Description

John Rawls. John Rawls entered the Alabama Army National Guard in November 1986 at the age of 17, during his senior year in high school. He subsequently entered active service with the U.S. Army in January 1989. Rawls was assigned to “America’s Guard of Honor,” the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. In 1991, he deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Shortly after his return to the U.S., he became a special duty investigator with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigations Command (CID), and served as a special agent and the detachment sergeant of the Carlisle Barracks Resident Agency, at the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA. He left the Army as a Staff Sergeant (E6) in November 1997.. . While serving in the U.S. Army, Rawls received numerous awards and honors including the Meritorious Service Medal; three Army Achievement Awards; National Defense Service Medal; Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze service stars for U.S. Army Operations in Saudi Arabia and Iraq; Kuwait Liberation Medal; and Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal.. . After three and half years as a Conservation Enforcement Officer with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Rawls reentered government service in July 2001 as a special agent with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Law Enforcement in Miami, FL. He has also filled assignments in Savannah, GA, Fairbanks, AK, Grenada, MS, and he is currently assigned to Millbrook, AL. He has received numerous star awards for achievement in physical fitness and job performance while in civilian service. . . Sherena Rawls – Wife of John Rawls.

Sherena Rawls followed her brother and entered the U.S. Army in 1989 and served with the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, NC. Rawls left the Army as a Specialist (E4) in 1992 to become a stay-at-home mom. Since then, Rawls has worked part-time and volunteered in many capacities. She is currently a full time wife and mom, and runs a business as a Zumba Fitness Instructor. Rawls also volunteers several hours a week in church assignments, as an Assistant Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 605 of Wetumpka, AL, and as an active member of the Wetumpka Quarterback Club and Wetumpka Wrestling Boosters.
